Shōman is one of the traditional 24 seasonal divisions used in Japan and falls around May 20 through early June each year.

The word means:

“The time when all living things gradually grow and begin to flourish.”

During this season, trees become richly green, rice fields fill with water, and nature feels full of life and energy.

The flowers of spring begin turning into fresh green leaves, and the scenery slowly changes into the colors of early summer.

Inside the authentic Japanese rooms of Saryo Ichimatsu, guests can learn about tea ceremony traditions while selecting seasonal Japanese sweets and tea utensils.

You can enjoy delicious matcha and wagashi sweets, and also experience making matcha yourself.

Our instructors carefully guide each guest step by step, so even first-time visitors can feel comfortable and relaxed.

During this season especially, we prepare early summer-inspired sweets and seasonal tea utensils that reflect the beauty of Shōman.

In tea ceremony, great importance is placed on appreciating “this moment that exists only now.”

5月の風が心地よく感じられる頃。
日本には「小満（しょうまん）」という、美しい季節の言葉があります。

小満は、二十四節気のひとつで、毎年5月20日頃から6月初旬頃までの時期を指します。

「万物が次第に成長し、天地に満ち始める頃」

という意味を持ち、草木が青々と茂り、田んぼには水が入り、自然の生命力を感じられる季節です。

春に咲いた花々は若葉へと姿を変え、街の景色も少しずつ初夏の色へ移り変わっていきます。

「少し満たされる」という美しい感覚

小満という言葉には、

「作物が順調に育ち、農家の人々が少し安心する」

という意味も込められていると言われています。

美味しい抹茶と和菓子を召し上がり、実際に抹茶を点てていただきます。

初めて茶道を体験する方でも安心して楽しめるよう、インストラクターが一つひとつ丁寧にご案内しています。

それぞれ季節ごと、特にこの時期は初夏らしい和菓子や、茶道具をご用意しています。
