The signs of spring are gradually becoming more pronounced, and the season that lifts our spirits has finally arrived.

In this post, we’d like to introduce “Spring Equinox Day”—a key milestone of spring—and share the charms of “spring” that you can experience in the garden of Charyo Ichimatsu and at Wasako.

少しずつ春の気配が濃くなり、心も軽やかになる季節がやってきましたね。

今回は、そんな春の節目である「春分の日」について、そして茶寮一松の庭や和茶子で感じられる“春”の魅力をご紹介します。

■ What is the Spring Equinox Day?
The Spring Equinox Day when the length of day and night are nearly equal, marking an important milestone that heralds the true beginning of spring.

It is one of the 24 solar terms and is also known as a day to “celebrate nature and cherish all living things.”

As the cold begins to ease, plants sprout, and creatures come to life, this season is the perfect time to feel the breath of nature.

Since ancient times, the Japanese have cherished this changing of the seasons.

■ 春分の日ってどんな日？
春分の日は、昼と夜の長さがほぼ同じになる日で、本格的な春の始まりを告げる大切な節目です。

二十四節氣のひとつであり、「自然をたたえ、生物をいつくしむ日」としても知られています。

寒さが和らぎ、草木が芽吹き、生き物たちが動き出すこの時期は、まさに自然の息吹を感じるタイミング。

昔から日本人は、この移ろいゆく季節に心を寄せてきました。

Around the spring equinox, tiny signs of life begin to emerge in the gentle sunlight.

Horsetails peeking out from the soil, cherry blossom buds beginning to bloom softly, and the song of the bush warbler drifting in from somewhere.

春分の頃には、やわらかな日差しの中で小さな命が顔を出し始めます。

土の中からひょっこりと顔を出すつくし、ふんわりと咲き始める桜のつぼみ、そしてどこからともなく聞こえてくるうぐいすの声。

Sometimes, you might even spot a butterfly fluttering about.

The koi in the garden of Charyo Ichimatsu have awakened from hibernation and are swimming about energetically. Every now and then, you might also see a turtle basking in the sun.

時には、ひらひらと舞う蝶の姿に出会えることもあります。

茶寮一松の庭の鯉も冬眠から目覚めて、元気に泳ぎだしました。時々亀が甲羅干しをしている姿も見かけます。

The charm of this garden lies in the way you can clearly sense the changing seasons even in its simple, everyday scenery.

昨日は、11時から浅草寺で行われた「金龍の舞」を見に行ってきました！

ずっと気になっていた行事だったのですが、開店３年目にしてやっと観にいくことができました。

実際に目の前で見ると想像以上の迫力で、思わず見入ってしまいました…！

当日は朝からとてもいい天気で、浅草の街は観光の方も多く、すでにお祭りのようなにぎやかな雰囲気。

仲見世通りを歩きながら、わくわくした気持ちで本堂へ向かいました。

そしていよいよ「金龍の舞」がスタート。

長い金色の龍が、音楽に合わせて仲見世通りをゆっくりと、そして力強く縫ってやって来ました。

体をくねらせながら舞う姿はとても優雅で、でもどこか神秘的。

近くで見ると、龍の細かい装飾や表情までしっかり作り込まれていて、思わず「すごい…」と声が出てしまいました。

この金龍の舞には、実はちゃんと意味があるそうです。

浅草寺が創建されたのは今から約1400年も前の推古天皇３６年。飛鳥時代にさかのぼる、とても長い歴史を持つお寺なんです。

伝説によると、隅田川で漁をしていた兄弟が観音様の像を引き上げ、それをお祀りしたのが浅草寺のはじまりと言われています。

そしてその際、観音様のご縁を祝うかのように空から金の龍が舞い降りてきて、一夜にして１０００本の松が生えた

という言い伝えがあり、それを表現したのがこの「金龍の舞」なんだそうです。

そう思って改めて見ると、ただのパフォーマンスではなく、歴史や信仰がしっかりと受け継がれている特別な舞なんだと感じて、

より一層感動しました。

浅草寺って、普段は観光地として訪れることが多いと思うのですが、こうした伝統行事を実際に体験すると、

ぐっと距離が近くなる気がしますよね。

にぎやかな仲見世、香ばしいおだんごの焼ける香り、そして本堂に広がるお線香の煙。

どこを切り取っても「日本らしさ」が詰まっていて、改めていい場所だなあとしみじみ感じました。

そして、そんな浅草の魅力をたっぷり感じたあとに、ぜひ体験していただきたいのが「お茶の時間」です🍵

今回、金龍の舞を見て改めて感じたのは、「昔から続くものには理由がある」ということ。

長い時間をかけて大切にされてきたものは、やっぱり人の心を動かす力があります。

茶道も同じで、一つひとつの所作に意味があり、そこにはおもてなしの心が込められています。

難しく考えずに、まずは体験してみることが一番です。
